The Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) has been in existence since 1963. As the world’s largest non-profit RV group, FMCA has been a trusted membership organization for many RVers, known for the variety of benefits, discounts, and perks offered to members.
One such perk is called FMCAssist, a program provided by Seven Corners and underwritten by Lloyd’s of London.
What is FMCAssist?
According to the FMCA website, FMCAssist is an “emergency medical evacuation and repatriation coverage available to members worldwide as long as you are more than 100 miles from home.” If you have a medical event that prevents you from continuing your travels, FMCAssist can step in to help.
The FMCAssist program is comprehensive and robust, even compared to other medical emergency coverage programs, such as Allianz Travel, that can cost $200 or more for emergency coverage alone. Here are just a few of the benefits the FMCAssist program covers:
- Full-time RVers, who are always considered 100 miles from home.
- Members who are traveling abroad
- Medical evacuation and repatriation
- Return of dependents and pets
- Return of RV and car, in North America only
- And much more
Additionally, FMCAssist has nurses, physicians, and multilingual personnel on staff. Plus, the coverage is worldwide and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week!
Of course, you should always call 911 first, in any emergency, and consult with the doctor attending to your situation. And it’s important to note that FMCAssist is not medical coverage – it won’t pay for any medical bills you incur, and there are some limitations and restrictions. But if you or a loved one have been admitted as an inpatient in a hospital, or a physician has said that you or a loved one require emergency medical transport, FMCAssist is just a call away.
